OVERVIEW OF THE LEARN to play PROGRAM

Age Range: Boys 9-11, Girls 8-10

Juniors will have progressed from FUNdamentals or have entered the program at the age range while displaying the necessary skills required to have progressed.

The program runs concurrent with the school semester.

This level is designed to continue to master movement skills, build on the sports skills learnt in the previous level. Juniors now start to work towards a correct repetitive impact for the various but at this stage minimal shot types.

Group Sessions continue to be offered through:

Developmental Sessions – Skill Sessions – Play Sessions.

Individual instruction should now increase in frequency.

Developmental Session Overview

8 minute learning/discover stations

On Course Play Session Overview

On course activity at this stage is either on the six hole course and the nine hole course and playing the course is designed around fun.

On course PLAY time takes place initially on the six hole short course.  As the players golf skills advance then they get to choose if they want to play the 9 hole course too.  Kids are still being encouraged to be kids at this stage! Juniors are now starting to use golf equipment 99% of the time to get around the course but kids are still encouraged to be kids! If your child wants to go play golf with you great, DO NOT teach them, question them, roll your eyes at them, berate them, in fact do not do anything other than have fun with them. You only get them for so long before they don’t want to play with you, so savor that time rather than ruin it. You’ll buy yourself some extra time with them if you allow them to enjoy your time together.

Skill Session Overview

Through the understanding learnt in the FUNdamentals stage, greater array of shots and skills can be added to each players repertoire.
